Rain or shine, you’re going to have a great time at your next outdoor adventure with these top tips. No matter how much it rains outside – there are always ways around bad weather when camping! Check out our list below to have some fun while camping in inclement weather.

  • Be sure to pack some compact but fun games!
    • Card Games: there’s the tried in true like 500 rummy, Euchre (4 people), poker, but there are a great selection of card games with a traditional deck out there. Check out this list for easy card games to play with kids. https://www.brisbanekids.com.au/6-easy-card-games-kids/
    • Compact Games: small in size big in fun. Check out games like Jenga, Banagrams (like scrabble), Mancala or Yahtzee.
    • Do you have other great camp games that are always in your camper? Let us know in the comments below.
  • Go old school and watch movies (VHS, DVD or streaming). A great way to eat up some time while staying indoors is to go back and watch a classic. Favorites for our camper is Princess Bride, National Lampoon Vacation, Dirty Dancing. If you have a long storm front coming through consider movie series like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones or James Bond. Looking for more inspiration? • If the weather permits, get out in this rain! Make sure to use a app or other source for determining safety and duration. Pack items that will make it more bearable like coats/ponchos etc., so you can stay dry while enjoying nature’s embrace.
  • Extend your living space by adding a pop-up, tarps and outdoor rugs. This doubles as living area and giving some additional space to hang things to dry. Remember to watch out for wind as this could damage your pop up and awning.

Camping in the rain can be a lot of fun, as long as you come prepared. Make sure to take along your favorite games and movies to keep yourself entertained, and don’t forget your rain gear so you stay dry.

With a little bit of preparation, camping in the rain can be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Have you ever gone camping in the rain? What did you do to make it more fun?
